Welcome to the Kardia Christian Academy. This begins my fourth year as Principal and I love coming to work. I have been an elementary educator for many years and have a variety of experiences in the classroom, in Administration, in instructional leadership, and in developing intervention plans. I believe God led me to Kardia to serve the school, the families, and the community. I am very thankful to be a part of this special place and look forward to the great things He has in store for this great school.

We give praise to God for His provision and protection during our 2020-2021 school year.  We were able to come to school and provide face-to-face instruction the entire year.  We had a fabulous year and we’re so blessed to be able to begin a new year.

Our teachers have been busy participating in online professional development through ACSI (The Association of Christian Schools International). We have been concentrating on The Philosophy of Christian Education.  This has been an excellent study for us as we continue to build our accreditation portfolio.

Our campus has also been able to partner with Klein ISD to attend professional development provided by the district. This year our teachers participated in the KISD STEAM Academy. The training was excellent and we look forward to implementing new ideas for our STEAM program.

Kardia has been extremely blessed this year to be able to begin construction on a new building due to the generosity and vision of Kim and Chuck Watson.  Therefore, our theme for the year is Under Construction. Just as the building is being built up, so are the students and staff under construction in Christ as we become more and more like Him.

This theme comes from the first chapter in Philippians, verse 6:

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Our theme this year and every year falls under our Kardia Christian Academy Mission verse.  Luke 10:27:

Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind.  And, love your neighbor as yourself.

As I conclude my thoughts, I want to say…God has been good to us!  We give all the glory and honor to Him who sits on the throne. It is His plan and His blessings that we seek as we look forward to this 2021-2022 school year.

In Him,

JoEllis McCall

Our History and Vision
Kim Watson - Provost.jpg

Windwood Christian Academy was first established with a Kindergarten in 1998.  It was a ministry of Windwood Presbyterian Church on the Grant road location.  When the church moved to the Spring Cypress location, Michelle Asous relocated the preschool and the academy.  Both schools grew and portables were set up for the academy, expecting to have a building in a year or two.  The growth of the academy was affected by economic stress in the years 2009-2015 and an elementary building was postponed.

The Watsons took over the Academy and the name was changed to Kardia in 2015.  Kardia is still a ministry of Windwood church and equips the next generation to know and grow a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  In the process Kardia helps students discover the fun of learning and the Academy promotes excellence in leadership with an emphasis on emotional intelligence, experiential opportunities through STEAM,  electives and academics.  We partner with families to help each student reach their God-give potential.

Our future goals include:

Continuing to help students and families strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ

Continuing to hire Christ-centered teachers who view each student as a spiritual being created in the image of God

Beginning and completing the accreditation process with ACSI

Growing the population to 2 classes per grade with a total of 284 students, keeping class sizes to 1 teacher for 10 Developing Kindergarten Skills (DK),  1 teacher for 12 students for Kindergarten and 15 students for 1 teacher in 1st through 6th grades

Establishing grades through 8th grade

Partnering with a Christian High School to take Kardia’s students through graduation

Building a state-of-the art building to enhance Christ-centered students and academic excellence

We continue to pray and seek God’s direction each year.

Our Mission

The mission of Kardia Christian Academy is to partner with families to equip and encourage students to reach their God-given potential, spiritually, emotionally, academically, physically and socially and become servant leaders who will impact the culture for Christ.
